Moksha - Protagonist and the Sculpture

A few months ago I graduated my bachelors studies at the Netherlands Film Academy as Visual Effects Artist, as part of my graduation I've worked on the graduation film Moksha and have created the protagonist (Tao) for the film, as well as the statue that looms over our tragic hero while he works tirelessly to try and save the universe.
I've worked closely with the directors and production designer on developing the visual storytelling of both our character and the statue, diving into the symbolism of what the statue represents to the character and to the audience. It was a very interesting and creatively challenging process.

For our graduation film: Moksha, I was responsible as Lead Character artist to oversee the development of our character on a creative and productive level.

The concept art for the suit was done by Kamran Khan, the retopology of the skin- and modelling of the suit of our character has been provided by Ricardo Korver, the groom was created by Milo Boot and the Look Development was created by Jort Knoester.

We decided to create our facial animations through blendshape layers sculpted in ZBrush and made a selection of absolutely necessary expressions, as well as extras to give the animators the freedom they need.
